Why was my order filled at a different price from the one I set?

Slippage and price gaps explained

Prices can move between the moment you place an order and the moment it's filled. They can also jump from one level to another without trading in between. This is called gapping.

It can happen:

  • when markets are volatile

  • around major news and economic announcements

  • when a market opens, including after the weekend

In these conditions, Buy Stop, Sell Stop and Stop Loss orders may be filled at the next available price instead of the price you set. A Stop Loss doesn't always limit your loss to the amount you planned.

If you think an order was filled incorrectly, contact us with the order's ticket number and we'll look into it.

Risk warning: CFDs are complex instruments and come with a high risk of losing money rapidly due to leverage. Only trade with money you can afford to lose.
