These steps are for MT5 on desktop. Menus differ in the web and mobile versions.
The Trade tab in the Toolbox lists your open positions and pending orders, with a summary line for your account:
Item | What it shows |
Balance | The money in your account, not counting open positions |
Equity | Your balance plus or minus the profit or loss on your open positions |
Margin | The money set aside to keep your positions open |
Free margin | Equity minus margin: what's available for new positions |
Margin level | Equity divided by margin, shown as a percentage |
Each open position also shows its swap and its current profit or loss.
If your margin level falls too low, the summary line turns red. See 'What is the stop-out level?'
